The Crow Road Band

2 - The air that we breathe...

"All I need is the Air That I Breathe" is not a song performed by The Crow Road Band, but is a title that could well be their motto. Band members have been driven since childhood to take an active interest in the environment, and are now major players in measuring air quality in industrial environments.

Founder members, Jan Moncrieff and Phil McCready, and the band Manager Tony Wootton, are working directors for an environmental surveying company, Spectrasyne Ltd. The company uses leading edge laser technology to measure air pollution. Spectrasyne works mainly for large oil, gas and petrochemical companies, using their world leading technology, called DIAL, to help these companies reduce their harmful emissions.

Our trio have devoted more than half their lives to developing and using this technology, and have a burning desire to see the air purged of the harmful gases poured into it by our industrial activities. In the course of this mission, the Spectrasyne Team (then part of BP Research) won the BP Chairman's Award for Health, Safety and Environment. And since then, as an independent company, Spectrasyne has gone from strength to strength as an international pioneer of the measurement and control of toxic air pollution.
