Faradena Afifi
Faradena trained at the Sylvia Brearley Massage School in Harrogate, achieving an ITEC Anatomy Physiology and Massage Diploma in May 2000.
Since 2001 she has attended postgraduate courses with the Holos Massage School (London) and is currently studying for a Post Graduate Massage Diploma with the Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine. She specialises in deep tissue work, posture and movement during her treatments. Faradena is a full member of the Complementary Therapists Association (EMBODY) and fully qualified First Aider.
Faradena has been training in various martial arts since 1987. She started learning T'ai Chi Chuan in 1995 whilst at the University of Leeds for 2 years, learning the short form with Ed Hines. She restarted the art in 2002 and joined Grey Heron Internal Arts in 2003 becoming an assistant instructor in 2004 and an authorised instructor with the group in 2005. She is a recognised instructor with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain (TCUGB) and the Tai Chi and Chi Kung Forum for Health (TCCKF)
Faradena teaches the Beijing 24 Step, basic Chi Kung, Push Hands and partnerwork. She also can teach non mainstream classes for example: women only, mental health, learning disabilties, wheelchair users, adapted seated only classes. Her mainstream classes are in St Ives with occasional classes in Huntingdon and Cambridge. She is willing to teach short workshops to interested groups.
